Trustee Meeting
April 16, 2012
The Board of Trustees of the Hamilton Public Library met at 6:30 p.m. on April 16, 2012 at the library. Members present were: Jim Morris, Cicily Knowles, John Kolditz, Bob Schneider, Nancy Denton, Jim Noble, Dan Reinhardt, Carole Buerklin
President Dan Reinhardt opened the meeting.
MINUTES
Jim Morris moved and Jim Noble seconded that the minutes be approved. Motion carried.
BILLS
Jim Morris moved and John Kolditz seconded that the bills be paid. Motion carried.
REPORTS
Friends of the Library-Work is going forward on the cement pad for the utility building. It has been suggested that a wooden structure can be built for the same amount as a metal one at the cost of $1,100.
Finance-CD 50616 is maturing. $30,450.49 will be put into a money market account #170984. The remainder of $20,000 will be put into a 6 mo. CD. $3,000 from #170984 will be moved to the General Fund. CD404200802 and CD54660 will be renewed for a year each. Jim Morris moved and John Kolditz seconded. Motion carried.
Librarian’s Report-Non-resident card fees will be $66.15. This is determined by formula. John Kolditz moved and Bob Schneider seconded. Motion carried.
--In the future trees will be planted in the side yard
--The Hamilton street department will be contacted or trustees will go to the meeting to ask about gravel for the parking lot.
--Petty cash will be used to buy flowers for the library planters.
--There may be a shift in line items in the library budget in the future.
--A planned weeding of CD’s and tapes and the Children’s Department is underway.
--Brenda Syfert has taken a full-time job and is requesting to work at home or be replaced.
--The proposed meeting day change will go into effect in May of 2012. The change was voted on March 19, 2012.
--Research the wording using Board of Directors or Board of Trustees in the library policy.
--Change the title of Assistant Librarian to Library Clerk
CLOSED SESSION
Jim Morris moved to go into closed session. Jim Noble seconded. Motion carried.
Jim Morris moved that all employees receive a 2% raise and any new hire receive minimum wage. Jim Morris moved and Cicily Knowles seconded. Motion carried.
Jim Morris moved and John Kolditz seconded that the closed session end. Motion carried.
PUBLIC RELATIONS
No report
BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS
Trees and flowers will be purchased in the future.
OLD BUSINESS
Jim Morris is leaving the board at the end of his term. Members of the board expressed their appreciation for his years of service. He will be missed.
NEW BUSINESS
With the change of meeting day effective in May, the next meeting will be Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. and the third Tuesday of the month thereafter.
ADJOURNMENT
John Kolditz moved and Jim Noble seconded that the meeting adjourned.
