Hamilton Public Library
August 21, 2012
The Board of Trustees of the Hamilton Public Library met at 6:30 p.m. on August 21, 2012 at the library. Members present were: Nancy Denton, John Kolditz, Bob Schneider, Katie DellaVedova, Dan Rheinhardt, Cicily Knowles, Jim Noble, Sharon Esterday and Carole Buerklin
The meeting was called to order by President Dan Reinhardt.
MINUTES
John Kolditz moved and Katie DellaVedova seconded that the minutes be approved.
Motion carried.
BILLS
John Kolditz moved and Jim Noble seconded that the bills be paid. Motion carried.
REPORTS
Friends of the Library-Judy Kammerer reported the vinyl flooring for the utility building has been picked out. Shelves and maybe a loft will be installed. An article will be published in the paper about the library including a request for names of past trustees. After the cut off date the plaque will be made. The library will have a book sale during the citywide garage sale, possibly in connection with Safety Days at the fire station.
Finance-$15,000 will be moved from the money market account to the general account and $10,000 to a 6 month CD. Cicily Knowles moved and John Kolditz seconded. Motion carried.
Librarian’s Report-Information was given on several grants available to the library.The Equalization Grant is automatic. The Library System Grant is a matching grant and may be used for construction.
-It was discussed how and when to upgrade the computers. The computers are used a great deal.
-Farm and Home has a safe on sale. After discussion Katie DellaVedova moved and Sharon Esterday seconded that the safe be purchased and a free file cabinet be received from the City. Motion carried.
-Jim Noble raised the question of insurance under Obamacare. Two trustees will attend the next finance meeting of the city to discuss health care.
-A discussion of substitute help raised several questions. What training is necessary? Could volunteers fill in? Nancy Denton will check on this. Jan Seyfert is available 3 days a week.
-Memorial money of $200 is available from Annie Bruder Memorial. She was a former clerk at the library. It was discussed if this money could be used for the safe. The discussion was tabled.
Public Relations-No Report
Building and Grounds-A plaque listing those who donated and helped with the utility building will be placed on the building. A bid was received from Great River for 5” concrete for $1,393.88 not including rebar which would be $442.50 for the driveway. The Boy Scouts would be involved in laying the concrete. A $1,000 would be available from The Friends of the Library. See if the city would help.

The city trimmed the trees on Library property.
