Trustee Meeting
May 21, 2013
The Board of Trustees of the Hamilton Public Library met at 6:30 p.m. on May 21, 2013 at the library. Members present were: John Kolditz, Sharon Anderson, Jim Noble, Cicily Knowles, Bob Schneider, Nancy Denton, Dan Reinhardt and Carole Buerklin. Guests: Cynthia Colvin and Hamilton Mayor, Steve Lowman
Dan Reinhardt opened the meeting. Steve Lowman was introduced to the Board and he thanked the Board for their service.
MINUTES
John Kolditz moved and Jim Noble seconded that the minutes be approved. Motion carried.
BILLS
John Kolditz moved and Cicily Knowles seconded that the bills be paid. Motion carried.
REPORTS
Friends of the Library-Cynthia Colvin, Friends President reported that a Trivia Night will be held in October. In conjunction with the Hamilton Citywide Garage Sale, a book sale will be held at the library on June 8. Wooden flowers are available for $10 and the small ones for $8.50. The Friends have elected a new slate of officers.
Finance-No changes need to be made.
Librarian’s Report-Budget line items were discussed. The monthly budget is set considering the current yearly amount.
--The business center is set up with Windows 8 computers which are wireless. Fifteen flash drives have been purchased for public use.
--The Per Capita Grant concerns an environmental scan of our community.
--Hamilton Public Library has a site on Facebook. It was suggested that a Twitter account and perhaps a Blog would be more personal. This could appeal to children and teens. Board members are encouraged to make suggestions about this.
--The project with new locks has been completed.
--The library is signed up with Direct Energy but the bill will come from Ameren.
--Three bids are sought for carpet cleaning.
--Memorial money in the name of Martha Stewart has been received in the amount of $830.00. Consider a purchase of a table and chairs at the next meeting.
--Summer Reading packets have been distributed to students in Hamilton.
--A new fax machine is needed. John Kolditz moved and Bob Schneider seconded that one should be purchased. Motion carried.
--An air-conditioner is needed for the meeting room.
--Nancy Denton is team leader for Team Hamilton in the Relay for Life June 8-9.
--Several names were put forth for a board member. Names mentioned were: Wanda Hanson, John Philips and Richard Leonard.
PUBLIC RELATIONS
No Report
BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS
A tree was given to the library by Steve Woodruff. More flowers will be added and the area around the Children’s Section will be reworked. Hostas will be planted around the utility building.

The current officers will remain the same. Sharon Anderson moved and Bob Schneider seconded. Motion carried.
