Trustee Meeting
April 27, 2015
The Board of Trustees of the Hamilton Public Library met at 6:30 p.m. on April 27, 2015 at the library. (The regularly scheduled meeting of April 21st was not held due to a lack of quorum.) Those present on April 27th were Sharon Anderson, Wanda Hansen, Katie DellaVedova , John Kolditz, Jim Noble, John Phillips, Bob Schneider, and Librarian Nancy Denton
The meeting was called to order by Vice-President Kolditz.
MINUTES
Phillips moved and Schneider seconded a motion to accept the March 17, 2015 minutes. Motion carried.
BILLS
DellaVedova moved and Hansen seconded a motion to pay the April bills. Motion carried.
President Noble took over the meeting at 6:38 p.m.
REPORTS
Friends of the Library—No representative was present. Denton reported that 35 kids and 10 adults attended the mini-golf fundraiser on April 18, netting $245. The funds will be used in the remodeling of the ladies restroom with the addition of an exhaust fan and other cosmetic improvements.
Finance—The board looked at the possibility of locking in certain CDs in the future for longer terms to get higher interest rates. Anderson reminded the board that they would need to appoint a new trustee to receive the duplicate bank statements following her retirement from the board.
Librarian--
· Denton reported that $3688 in Per Capita grant funds have arrived.
· Denton expects to hand out copies of the new budget line items for computer apps to all board members at the next meeting.
· Denton announced that May 30th is the kick off for the summer reading program. McNamara’s Band will perform. The program will continue through July. The staff will utilize many existing books and supplies on hand by awarding “book bucks.”
· Staff shirts have been purchased using the incidental fund. They will be personalized and worn during library programs and to library meetings.
Building and Grounds--
· Planting of flowers and the butterfly garden, as well as mulching, will be done on May 16.
OLD BUSINESS-- None
NEW BUSINESS
Kolditz moved and Schneider seconded a motion to accept David Morgan and Sarah Warriner as new trustees on the board. Motion carried.
President Noble thanked trustees Anderson and Reinhardt for their years of service on the board and wished them well as they retire from the board.
President Noble reminded the board that election of officers for next year will occur at the May meeting.
Kolditz moved and Philips seconded a motion to go into executive session to discuss personnel raises at 7: 09 p.m. Motion carried.
Kolditz moved and Phillips seconded a motion to return to regular session at 7:28 p.m. Motion carried.
DellaVedova moved and Hansen seconded a motion to give Denton a 2.5 % wage increase for next year and to give a 1.5% wage increase for next year to all other employees. Motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT—Hansen moved and Phillips seconded a motion to adjourn. Meeting was adjourned at 7:32 p.m.
