Friends of the Library
May 14,2014
The meeting was called to order by Cynthia. The minutes were reviewed by all members present. The minutes were approved. Treasurer’s report was $2,628.36.
Correspondence: None
Old Business:
Children’s Computers- Nancy shared that we could not get a deal from Dell. There are several things going on with the library computers right now. Members decided to hold off on getting computers for now.
Membership dues- Juanita shared that some of the members had paid up and some had not.
Librarian’s report:
Nancy shared that she had called Rails. She asked them where to send books to get rid of them. They told her to contact the Illinois State Library.
May 31st is the kick off for the Summer Reading Program. Event is from 11am-1pm. Habitat for Humanity will be having a cookout and Hancock County Vet will be here. Kids can bring their pets for a pet parade.
New Business:
Canopy/Tent- There was discussion about the need for something. We should have some protection from the weather when we have book sales, etc. Cynthia and a few others said they would look around. Members would buy 2 if they were under $200 each. Motion was made and approved.
Book sale- Hamilton is having their Spring Citywide Garage Sale June 6th & 7th. We are going to have our book sale one day on June 6th. The time will be 8am-4pm. Theresa will sign up. Theresa will loan us some tables. Cynthia, Nancy and Theresa will set up Friday morning. Cynthia and Theresa will work the morning shift. Judy will work in the afternoon.
Election of Officers- Motion made and approved to have the officers stay the same for 2014-2015 calendar year.
